Cold beer , great food and entertainment, staff great .
Honestly, Longreach as a whole has been a complete let down. Me and the family had stopped at the Longreach RSL and had a terrible experience on our first passthrough. So we decided on our way back through that we would stop at the Bird Cage Hotel and try their meals. Well this meal was even worse then the first, I just wanted a bloody parmy and the wife wanted a juicy steak, the kids werent hungry. My parmy was the size of a chicken wing and chazzas steak was the dryest piece of meat imaginable. The service however was a step up as I was greeted by one of the beautiful girls behind the bar which was nice unlike the greeting given by Hamish Hart at the other RSL. I will never be returning to Longreach for as long as I am on this earth, the town has some of the worst food and drinking venues imaginable.P.S. I didn't catch that girl behind the bars name, if you could message me that would be nice. Me and chazza are looking for a 3rd.
So I googled best steak in Longreach and this place came up trumps! I ordered the 450g rump with veggies and and for $33 I got a pre-cooked budget supermarket quality steak with mixed veg slop that I assume would accompany the $15 roast special. I never review places but this was worthy of a review!
Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was excellent. Service was exemplary. Amenities were well kept and clean. Homemade icecream was to die for!
First meal was spot on,lamb shang was very good. Second night not so good .Our meal was chewy. But staff were good and service fast.
